Comment:
My Deus Ex (the first one) runs really slowly on my computer. I've never been able to solve the problem. On taskmgr, it uses no more memor than Half Life or CS, but runs really slowly. Its seems to use an abnormal amount of system resources. I used to think that it had somethingto do with my graphics card, a GeForce 420MX, but I've tried Overclocking, from 250 core and 300 mem, to 365 core and 460 mem and there is no visible change in performance. the game is running at 1024x768 with details at high. Changing the details does little, and smaller screen messes up my desktop.
Any sugesstions/explainations?

The MX420 64 MB is an outdated piece of crap...overclocking it isn't gonna help. If you wanna play games & play them reasonably well, you need a new video card.
That may be so, but it doesn't change the fact that the MX420 is an outdated/low performance card. It's basically just an overclocked GF2 MX400. It was a weak card when it was introduced in 2002 & it ceratinly hasn't gotten any better with age.
Yeah, true, but I remember playing UT2004 on a MX400 and it's, er, pretty good for the job, so for Deus-Ex, which is about the same generation as Red-Faction etc should run fine. Hmm, I still have it somewhere, if only I still used AGP ;-)
