If your motherboard has an AGP slot a 6800GT would do well in your system.

If you only have pci slots then expect a total system overhaul.

Motherboard
CPU
Memory
PCI-E graphics
and possibly a power supply

If you only have pci slots you can forget about a decent gaming machine, and NO you can't replace a DELL motherboard. But your only hope is that the card youre replacing is AGP, if not...too bad....sorry dude...

The FX5500 is about as good as it gets in PCI video cards. There is a 6200 available, but it uses 64-bit memory, so it's not worth it. Someone in one of the other forums mentioned that ATI has released a PCI version of the X1300...that might be worth a look. But if you board only has PCI slots, a gamer it will never be....

There's no point in basing a complete rebuild around your old CPU. The socket 478 P4 is dead. Sell your Dell system for a couple hundred bucks (or whatever you can get for it) & start from scratch.

It's a start....

The case is awfully pricey & I would have gone with a different board. Do you plan on ever using the SLi feature?

What video card do you plan on getting?
