Hi, I am trying to install the sims vacation expansion pack. I got vacation to go then put in the Makin Magic disk and it said that I had installed a new program and it would update. Well, when it gets to 100% I get this:
Component transfer error
Component: ExpansionShared
File Group: ExpansionShared
File: E:\setup\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)I took out the Makin Magic cd and cleaned it off,it does have a couple of minor scratches, and I ran it again. This time everything was the same but the error was now Incorrect function.
I am not sure what to do and I'm Jonesin!
Someone said I could put the disk on the hard drive and install from there but I have know idea how to do that or if it would work. Help!!! Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

It's definitely a bad CD. Why not get a replacement disk from EA or try to copy a disk from someone (legal since you have your own key)?

Thank you very much for your reply. I ran out and got a new copy today and it worked fine. The funny thing is ea gave me about a 3 page answer that said nothing about the disk (though they were told it had a couple of minor scratches) and I was told to uninstall everything and delete registry and program files etc. I am so coming here the next time I have a question. Thanks again! :)
