So i want to get rid of my now current machine and get a new one for gaming.

Have around £2000 or $3735 .. can a get a decent custom made machine for this kind of money? I was looking at a Alienware or dell gaming machine and was wondering if i could get better value for money going custom. Could sum1 give me a rough spec of machine i could get and wether its better to go custom or manufactured.

Thnaks.. All comments and views welcome

Alienware is targetting consumers like yourself with the launch of their Aurora 7500 (A64 FX-62) series.

Unlike some of us here, I never try to discourage computing folks that apparently love and don't mind "bleeding edge" technology. If that's your taste and you can afford to go for it, WHY not?

Truth is we all have our indulgences.....;-)

custom is far better and as ravi said and i extend you could build 2 with that kind of money.

dont go off the shelf (dell or others) with custom you have pretty much absoulute control of what goes in it and what brands.

custom usually is cheaper as well

Have a look at the £800 boxes on ebay first, you get some very good deals there.

for example,

generally you can save a lot and the blokes are (mostly) legit...

That leaves you spare cash for that 42" plasma

agreed jam

i suggest sumguy that you do a bit of research, work out what you want your pc to be able to do, ask opinions about brands etc ie amd v intel, nvidia v radeon etc then buy what you want and put it together each component comes with their own instructions (pretty easy to follow) on how to assemble and away you go if you get stuck were all here to help

There is really no question whether you should build your own or not. Not only will you likely save a fair bit of money, you'll also learn sooooo much.

Just know that $3700 is enough to buy you the best of the best and if you get anything less, you got ripped off.

And as it was just said, if you ever get stuck along the way, you know where to turn for help.

Alert me after you respond otherwise I'll forget to come back.
