Okay, so I posted this problem earlier and most people told me to get a new PSU, which I did. Since this problem still remains, I have started a new topic.

(BTW the original: http://computing.net/gaming/wwwboar... and I ended up getting an Antec Neo 550HE)

The problem is that CS: Source uses 100% of the cpu the whole time I am playing, and also has an occasional glitch/problem/major inconvenience that locks the controls in whatever was last inputted.

In other words, I could be walking down a hallway in the game, and the w key will 'stick', forcing me to keep walking. Or I could be shooting, and my gun will keep firing, much longer after I release the mouse button. Likewise, I am lucky to have a mute button on my mic, since sometimes the talk key stays on, making my quick response last for up to 15 seconds after I release the button.

My latency is typically around 20-40, and the rest of the players are usually above me, with pings of anywhere between 20-280. The weirdest thing is, the FPS stays the same, it just seems like the controls get stuck. Like I said the last time, these problems were non-existent with my Nvidia 6600GT, but have now come up with my ATi 1950 pro.

Does a dual GPU video card have any special hardware requirements besides power supplies. Is the new card taxing my CPU, or is there a glitch with CS:Source (I have met other people with the same problem, but no solutions)?

Any bright ideas?

Random question which may prove to be unhelpful: What's your fps_max set to in CS:S? What would happen if you set it to, oh, say 60?

Why did you buy an Antec Neo 550HE ($110 at newegg)? I had recommended an excellent deal (FREE after rebate) on a 600W Ultra PSU w/excellent specs. Not that the Antec isn't good, but there was no reason to spend that much.

Like I said, the FPS does not change when the problem happens, my controls are the only things that lock. So, for instance, when the mic keyboard command or fire button sticks, I can move around like normal. There was one point when the fire key was stuck in the active position and I couldn't even reload, so I was walking around perfectly fine and my gun was making the out of ammo sound over and over because it was still firing without bullets. I could even change weapons and constantly stab with my knife!

The one that happens the most is when I am walking or crouch/walking, since I do these actions the most. Usually, when this happens, it's always fun to uncontrollably walk into a wall or right past an enemy. I hate it!

Jam- The Antec was highly discounted at CompUSA, since the one in my area went out of business. So it was 50% off. The Ultra was my second choice. I think when I build a new PC in a year or so, I will use an Ultra brand PSU.

Yes, but you have yet to answer my random question which could be unhelpful.

What is the CS:S setting called fps_max's value?

I know I'm not coming off as Mr. Confident over here, but reducing my fps_max helped me with my own lag issues with HL2. (And no, I'm not talking about ping.)

Ok, the fps_max was at 300, I'll try it at 60 and see how things go.

As far as my keyboard mouse go, I have a Razer Death Adder mouse with overclocked USB to 1000Mhz, and logitech keyboard that can only be used in a ps2 slot, since I have no adapter.

The thing about those two devices is that this problem only arose after I changed my video card from a 6600GT to X1950 Pro. The problems never existed whatsoever until after the hardware change.

You know, normally I don't mind it if people don't post back, but this is one of those times when I'd like to know the solution.

Well, if you set fps_max to 60 like you said, it lowers the occasion of the problem down to about once in a blue moon (nothing but expected lag problems when other players have high pings). In other words, yes, the max FPS was too high.

That explains why a better video card makes this problem arise. Also, I wasn't sure if anyone cared anymore.
