Hi guys !!
Expensive equipment isnt always the answer, however I managed to buy my computer cheap so I went for it. Now : I am a hardcore CS player I rarely play anything else, but I seem to have some lag issues running the freakin thing in Dualcore ... I have tried to ctrl+alt+delete and shutdown one of the cores without any luck ... I run on a Ati XL800X 512 card and a viewsonic vx924 screen ( 3-4 ms respons time ) so the gear should be capable to rock plenty .... I have 1 hunch that i am leaning towards more and more, I have no cable so I installed a wireless 2,4 gghrtz card with 54mbit capability it shows full strength and even when i clock it it show minimal loss, but could this be the badboy causing me to lagg my butt of ??
Are there any patches to ensure better performance ... should i burn the thing and go buy a single core ??
I just want to get back to my 4/1 kill ratio im down to 2/1 now :***(
Thx

Smokem if you got them

The Athlon64 X2 4200+ is really a derivative of two Athlon64 3500+ processor cores, unfortunately games at this time only take advantage of one of the Athlon64 X2’s cores.

In other words, an Athlon64 3500+ would have gotten you the same gaming performance.

well it should run perfectly well.
btw what card do you have? the x800xl or the x1800xl??
Well anyway CS should run well on both xD

There are hundreds of things that can be causing your lag. You could try identifing the lag by looking at what kind of lag it is. If you get good framerates and loading times but the other players move like 3 meters every 3 secs even though when you look with the mouse it is smooth, then it should be your internet connection causing the problem. However, if there doesn't seem to be any internet issue (lag on any information you send to the server or any information you get from the server) you should try your video card by downloading the latest drivers from ati.com. I really doubt dual core is causing the problem, and if it was it should happen to everyone, so just look google for "dual core Counter strike" and the problem should pop up right away.
