|Greetings. I'm a well traveled gamer and computing.net veteran, but even I run into funny problems such as the one occurring with CS 1.6.|
I recently installed the game again since building my new computer back in October. I have noticed that over the years as my computer becomes more advanced, good old fashioned HL1 games seem to run weirder and weirder. This time around it seems to be a problem with the resolution. I'm a veteran CS 1.6 player and I only play on 1024x768. Granted I have a 20 inch LCD monitor, widescreen resolutions do not work or feel right for 1.6. This is the only game I play at such a low resolution. On my previous computer, the game would run at 1024x768 very comfortably in fullscreen. However, since installing 1.6 on the new machine I find that at any non-widescreen resolution, the game does not display at fullscreen and instead has thick black bars along the sides of the screen to re-size the image. I would like to be able to play at 1024x768 stretched out across the screen without the black bars, as it was on my previous build. Any input is appreciated. My current specs are in my signature. Let me know if I need to provide you with any additional details.
