creating lan for game.... plz help

Hi, i wanna play age of mythology on a lan with my brother through a crossover cable, the only probly is that i dont know how to do it. I can ftp in to my xbox but i have guides for that. plz i need help. any help i widely appreciated
cause i cant afford a router and i have a crossover cable.

Dude, get a router. Linksys WRT54G's are like $40 when on sale at a local retailer. Check Office Max. Do it right, so you don't have to keep doing this repeatedly everytime you want to play. The router will let you share your broadband connection if you have one, as well as take care all of the IP addressing stuff you'd have to figure out and set manually.

Try this.....
Stick the cable into both pc's,enable file sharing,make sure both firewalls allow this and off ya go.
The firewalls may shout at ya for allowance of game,just say yes.

try restarting computers after u connect the cable and disable this stuff... it worked for me...until i setup a network properly and dont bother with crossovers any more.
