You whole machine as is, is probably worth less than you are fixing to pay for a Pentium D 805, to me the upgrade simply isn't worth it.

My rationale is; the average home PC's CPU is idle 90% of the time & in the case of your eMachine, you are already aware that your current Celeron D CPU is just one of the many drawbacks preventing the machine from being an ideal gaming rig.
Upgrading the CPU just for the sake of it is a waste of $50. And doing it for gaming is meaningless without upgrading to a capable discrete video card, which also triggers the need to upgrade the RAM & PSU .... but it is your machine & you have the final say.

Your right I know that I know just getting a new cpu will practicly do nothing I need more ram,psu and graphics card to be anywhere near a decent gaming rig
Dude, it's an eMachines...it will never be a good gaming rig. Don't waste any more money on it. I suggest you sell it & start over, but this time, choose a little more wisely or build it yourself.

Like Saber said it's not worth it. The Pentuim D 805 yelds little advantages in performance then the processor you have now at stock speed. And it's a bad dual core processor at stock speed.
Summary: "i need to stay ahead of the friends." That's dumb logic. Are you prepared to dump your $250+ 6800 AGP card? If you're gonna upgrade to an A64 setup, you should go to PCI-E. And since it's so importan...

Summary: The motherbaord is crappy, but that's besides the point. If you plan on running a Radeon 9800 you'd better have a decent power supply...no less that 350W with at least 18A on the +12v rail. You'd be b...
