im upgrading my cpu from 1.6, the highest my mobo can handle, this is my mobo an austeck P4B266LE, i believe from the austeck website which i was looking at the modem P4B266C which isnt probably a big difference is 1.6-2.2+ and i was wonder if a 2.26 would work for my mobo

So why are you asking questions then?? LOL!

I think you better double check your board model number & specs. I couldn't find a listing for a P4B266-LE, but I did find a P4B266-LA & a P4B266-SE (& others). Regardless, none of the P4B266-xx boards I found support 533FSB CPUs, so the CPU you've picked out isn't supported...if you buy it & intsall it, it will run at 1.7GHz (17 x 100MHz), not 2.26GHz (17 x 133MHz).

I wouldn't bother throwing $155+ at that machine. What is it you're trying to accomplish anyway?

2.26ghz is capable preformance, if not spectacular. i would upgrade that system as that is till adequit preformance much cheaper then a new motherboard + processor. it would probably work with that mobo. i suggest trying to find a BIOS update, as that is usually what adds support for a faster processor that previously wasn't supported.

argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours
