not sure what is happening, but im in the middle of playing call of duty 2 online, i have a AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor and a ATI Radeon x1800 XT 512MB, for some reason my computer keeps going to a blue screen that says it had to shut the computer down before anything was hurt, im not sure why this is happening, can anyone try and tell me whats goin on? i dont think its a power issue, i think it would just shut off completely if so... it does this a good 5-10 min into the game, if u need any further specs, just ask =/ thank you

But is it a good 500W power supply? There are a lot of crappy ones out there & you won't get a good one from IBUYPOWER unless you specifically order it.

Have you ever tested your RAM with memtest86?

And have you changed your Windows settings under Startup & Recovery so that it doesn't automatically restart?

download the file, unzip it, click on install.bat, then follow the instructions. You'll need a formatted floppy ready to go...the files will be transferred to the floppy & it will automatically be made bootable, then you just reboot with the floppy in the drive (make sure the floppy is set as the 1st boot device in the BIOS) & let the program run for at least one series of tests. Some people let it run for several hours. If any errors are found, replace the RAM.

you still haven't mentioned who makes your PSU, just because it says 500w means nothing, I doubt it can actually do it, and even if it can, it will fail to keep the voltage steady when alot of current is being drawn from it (which can cause you system to crash, the comp doesn't have to "just turn off" to be an inadiquite PSU.

another is (very simple and should have been the first thing you checked), are you running the very lastest drivers for that card (not the ones that came on the CD with the card... but from ATI's website?)

make sure there is nothing that could be short circuiting any part of your system

do you have anything plugged into PCI slot #1 (this can sometimes cause IRQ conflicts with video cards)

do you have enough cooling? is your CPU or vid card possibly overheating?

Don't put a question here.

well in response 6 i told you who makes it, NZXT, thats the only information i got from iBUYPOWER.

yes, the drivers for my card are up to date, 5.13 catalyst and all

nothing in the PCI slot #1

ive checked my temps and it reads "CPU 114F/46C, sys 95F/35C" and im pretty sure thats way too high, ive read in forums worried when they have 44F... ive been pretty sure this was my main problem from the beginning but i want to rule out everything else before i add more fans considering there are already 6 fans in my system

also my other concerns were maybe i need to update my BIOS but im not to sure how, and maybe needing to update my chipset drivers

my system specs are:

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
ATI Radeon x1800 XT 512MB
2x 512MB Corsair Value Select
NZXT PF-500 500 Watt Power Supply
Digital Western 160GB Harddrive

also i ordered Windows XP Media Center Edition with the computer but i dont believe they installed it because when i check it says i have pro installed but i still have the media center edition stuff available to use
