I have 2 pcs that I want to connect to the internet using an ADSL modem/router/firewall. My son plays Counterstrike online a lot, are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of? Anyone had problems or can recommend a modem/router/firewall that will work?
Thanks

Due to the nature of how routers work, you should have no issues whatsoever with your son playing counterstrike as long as he is not trying to host the game on his PC, which would be painfully slow on typical broadband connections anyway. If he does want to do that, you will need to setup port forwarding to his machine's IP address.
I would recommend in wired routers Netgear or Linksys. For wireless, Linksys only.
If you go wireless, make absolutely sure to secure the wireless connection using WEP or the much preferred WPA encryption scheme.

Thanks for the reply.
My son only wants to play not host so hopefully I should have no problems.
I will take a look at Netgear and Linksys wired routers as I don't need to go wireless.

Check the Sunday paper flyers. You can find some good deals, especially on wireless routers. If you can get a wireless router cheaper, just disable the Wireless Access Point in the wireless setup, and you're good to go.
