When I start up Counter Strike :Source after the loading screen it goes black and then has some kind of hl2.exe application error. Anyone know how to fix this? A voyage of perceptions...of thoughts...of moments and possibilities...
It would help if you'd list both your system specs & the error message. Did you compare your specs to the games hardware requiremnents? If you're asking about a laptop, the graphics *may* not be adequate.

I got it to work. But I have a laptop with a rubbish shared grapshics card so therefore there is no point in playing it. Thanks anyway. A voyage of perceptions...of thoughts...of moments and possibilities...
i know how to fix the hl2.exe error on steam source engine game on vista system
1. Right click on your game in steam
2. Click "properties"
3. Click "set launch options"
4. enter the cmd "-dxlevel 81" (without ")
5. click "ok" and close properties
6. launch the game
7. if the game is not working properly try the cmd "-dxlevel 70"setting the direct x level worked for me
the fix can be found under steam troubleshooter under game crashes section allthough steam also tell you to type the cmds
-nosound
-window
and +mat_forcehardwaresync 0
and these can also fix some games problems
but it seems direct x is the only thing you need to change on gmod10this is a link to the support page containing this fix

please help i have a windows xp home edition computer and i have css with the hl2.exe error report but before that this happens. When i play css when i join a server it shut css down and says engine error then that hl2.exe error please help me i have a 1gb computer what should i do???????????? :(
