hello guys. I have a question and i hope you guys can help me solve this. thanks!

i got an original copy of the sims 2 that i want to copy to my computer and i did. I downloaded each disk into a specific folder. but during installation, i could only run the first disc from the hard drive then after that I needed to insert the specified cd. then i tried to run the game, and an error message said "insert disc 1" would show up. I just bought this computer and which i custom made it which it didnt come with a burner. My question is can i run the sims from my hard drive instead from the cd-rom? I've read numerous forums and each said i can burn using alcohol 120% but the problem is i dont have a burner at the moment. If i can solve this problem without a burner, I would really appreciate it.

if that's not possible, can i just use any software to make a copy of disc 1 just like how i would make a copy of any other cds? And is Sims 2 protected?

thanks and happy holidays!

It is possible.

What you need to do is install Alcohol 120%. Put the CD rom that you want to copy to your hard drive in you CD Drive, and go to the Image making wizzard in Alcohol.

Select the correct drive. Then change the "Datatype" to "SafeDisc 2/3". Click next, choose where you want to save it then click start. After it is done making the image you can mount it to a virtual drive. And it will be just like having the CD in you CD drive.

Btw when you are making the image it will go through a bunch of disc read errors but when it finishes them it won't be much longer until its done.

Post back if you need any help making disc images or mounting them using Alcohol 120%.

Or you can find a NoCD patch for your sims..that would save lots of time.

hi Thomas Fitzpatrick, i have a question about mounting images. when you wrote .."After it is done making the image you can mount it to a virtual drive. And it will be just like having the CD in you CD drive." what exactly do you mean by mount it to a virtual drive? I am not sure exactly what you mean by that as well as what do you mean by virtual drive. sorry for all the trouble, i'm sort of computer illiterate lol.

and you wrote "Btw when you are making the image it will go through a bunch of disc read errors but when it finishes them it won't be much longer until its done." are you trying to say that when it's making images, a bunch of error messages will pop up and you are basically telling me to just ignore them?

thanks :)

A virtual drive is a drive that does not physically exist. It is emulated by software. When you mount an Image on it you are doing the equivilent of putting a CD into your real drive.

To mount the image you simply open the image in alcohol and right click it, then you should see the option to mount it.

When you are copying a Safedisc protected game it will go through a bunch of disc read errors, just don't pay any attention to them.

Someone brought up a good point, if you are just copying it so you can play without the CD in the drive you can get a No CD crack for the game. Check out, www.gamecopyworld.com
maybe thats all you need.

If you don't have enough money for buying Alcohol 120%, try to use Paragon CD-ROM Emulator (www,xdrom-emulator.com). It's cheaper. If you want to grab all copy protected CDs/DVDs just download demo of Vurtual CD Emulator from www.download.com, it will patch yoir program.

When i made an image with Alcohol 120% trial, it worked just fine. I then bought the full retail version. When i try to run the image even after mounting it, it says, cd?dvd emulation software has been detected. Please disable all cd/dvd emulation software and restart the game. How can you disable the software and use the image at the same time? PLEASE HELP ME!
