I have a Radeon 9600se Diamond Stealth S100. Whenever i play a 3d game (also a 2d game stepmania www.stepmania.com) for 5-20 minutes the computer will restart. The screen will go black and show the start up crap. It is ONLY when i play games so i dont think it is overheating. I can play movies for hours on end and keep the computer on for along time and it will not restart.

I have called tech support 2 times and it still has not been fixed. They have suggested and i have done these things: Unplugged and replugged in the video card, installed latest chipset drivers(via), installed latest video drivers, i have a 300 wt power supply.

I bought the card in about January and has worked perfectly fine untill about a month ago just after i reformatted my computer

These are the games that it restarts for:
Half life 2
Stepmania
Starwars Jedi Academy
Starwars Starfighter
Swat 4

Sorry for the fast and incoherent post, this is very annoying.

by the way, when did that start? after you got the ati 9600 or something else? try to remember when this problem started, and try to remember what you have done, what programs/softwares you have installed, or bios you have changed before this problem started happen.

Um Or the problem could be that he has a crappy card? SE stands for slow edition. It has 64 bit memory whilst the stand 9600 has 128 bit memory. I doubt he could even play Half Life 2 on the lowest of settings, and your CPU seems a bit weak as well. 1.5 Ghz. Is it intel? Or AMD? Could you give us some system specs to work with? You probably need a new computer. Simple as that.

Processor P4@ 2.6 Ghz, FSB@535Mhz
RAM 512MB's PC2700/32001 256 stick of each. Hard Disk Drives 1 40 GB HD 1 10 GB HD CD/DVD Drives CDRW52X

It started a little bit after i reformatted. And my card is not at all crappy. I run it at very high setting at 1024 by 768 and runs with no lag at all. . .

I have reinstalled direct x 9.0 c.

I have been using the card from january to about april and it worked perfectly. All my games NEVER had a problem.

Before the reformat I had 2000 and now i hav xp

"AMD Athlon Xp processor
1800+
1.53 ghz
768 Ram

could it be ram?. . . I upgraged ram a couple weeks ago too. . Could a ram problem cause a reboot?
