I am experiencing the same issue as everyone else..I read all the posts and understand that this seems to be common and normal to have 100% system idle and CPU..whatever. Here's the deal though...Anytime my CPU spikes? My computer lags out BAD! If I'm playing a video game and my CPU usage jumps to say...90%? Forget about playing the game...lagged out. Lets say I'm listening to music...mmm limewire/itunes..whatever. CPU spikes? Music instantly gets distorted, comp lags..until CPU usage goes back down below 10%? Something..is clearly not right..I have a gaming computer with 4gig ddr..512mb video card..etc..dual core processors blah blah..is there anything I can do to eliminate this hassle? Hate when my game(dungeons&dragons online) lags out..especially in groups..or raids. SUCKS!!!! Thanks
you need to figure out what is causing your cpu usage to spike. open the task manager look at processes, sort by CPU, and try to recreate a spike. You will see the biggest CPU hog at the top of the list if you sort by that column (descending).
also, when it spikes like that, the idle process will not be at 100%. 100% idle means that the processor isn't working on anything. If you have another process or processes taking a total 89% for example, idle would be 11%.
