Reply: (edit)If you know the disc is good (tried it on other machines and it worked), and you've cleaned your CD drive, there's nothing left but to replace your cd drive. If you do replace it, get a DVD reader or burner. Even dual layer burners are under $40 these days shipped. "Milk was a bad choice!"

Reply: (edit)Had the CD drive been working properly up until recently? Did you make any hardware changes (IDE devices) recently? If the drive had been working & no changes were made, it probably just sh!t the bed & needs to be replaced. If you've made any hardware changes (HDD, optical, etc), you may need to change your IDE configuration. I assume you only have the one optical drive so it would be best to have it setup as 2ndary master. Also about your video driver "problem"...all you had to do was go to nVidia.com. And you probably already know this but the FX5200 is not a good gaming card...if your's is the 64-bit version, it's REALLY not a good gaming card! lol http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html
