|a clicking drive is typically not a good thing, as this is usually an indicator that the drive is on it's last legs. How old is the laptop? is it still under warranty?|
If it's under warranty, get a new drive from Dell. if not, get a replacement drive from ebay or craig's list or something (you could also try Dell, but if it's out of warranty they'll probably try to charge you like $100 for a $20 part).
