I'm trying to run D2 and for some reason it won't read my cd being in the drive. I can go into the drive manually and read through the play disc but when i try to load the game it tells me that the cd is not there. Also i reinstalled the game and had some luck for a small amount of time. A day or so later it went back to not reading it. Any suggestions would be more than welcome. Reinstalling every time i want to play is certainly not an option.

Thanx in advance

First, if the cd is not the original then this may be some type of burn protection (but none of us ever use illegal copies of cds :) ). Second, the cd may be scratched. And if neither of those is true, their may be another problem but I would guess that Windows is f#$@ed up and then all you can do is whine to Microsoft and get an autoresponse. Or you could do what I do and take out your harddrive with the windows installation on it and beat it with a sludge hammer and then burn what's left...

Pretty much f'cked. I tell ya though an old ancient trick to get small scratches out of cd's was to put a tiny bit of toothpaste on it then clean it up. I'm not sure if it will work, but if the cd is pooched anyway may be worth a try.
