hello, i posted previously about my computer locking up during games and how i couldn't press any key or move the mouse, but only could hard boot it.
i recently got a cpu stress test (toast) and found out that once my cpu hits about 55+ cpu usage my whole computer locks down.
i'm happy that i've discovered this, but now i need to know how to resolve this :)
i have a very fast cpu (2.6 ghz +hp 800mhz fsb) but i have no clue on how to fix this.

thanks in advance :)

What kind of processor do you have; Celeron or Pentium? What kind of motherboard do you have? Do you have an onboard video card or add-on? (name type of card if you have an add on)

I assume you have a stock fan and heatsink seated on your processor?

How long does it take for your CPU to hit 55C while running the stress test?

Give a few more details and it will be easier to help you.

Make sure you have all system drivers up to date and set all system settings back to defaults. If that still doesn't solve it then find another cpu that is compatible with your board and try it to make sure it isn't a failed cpu. Lock up's in games are normally due to the video card being overclocked too high, but if the stress test shows problems with the cpu then I would start troubleshooting with it.

other possibilty is 3rd party software, spyware, adware, worm, virus and etc, could cost high CPU usage.
