Comment:

I just got Madden 2004 and I can't get it to load. I have Direct X 9.0c loaded and as far as I know my system meets all requirements. When I try to install the hourglass comes up for just a second and that's all. Using autorun or double-clicking the exe. file yields the same result. I just seem to get absolutely no response from the install disk.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Gaming software is not my specialty, but here's a suggestion:

Before trying to install the game, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab, then click on "User Name" to arrange the processes. Now, one at a time, "End Process" everything connected with your username (Jude?) except for EXPLORER.exe & taskmgr.exe...to do this, simply highlite the process, then click the End Process button. Don't do anything with the System, Network Service, or Local Service processes, just the ones listed with your username. Once you've shutdown all but EXPLORER.exe & taskmgr.exe, try installing the game........

Alright. I'll give that a shot right now. I am the only user on this machine.

I'll let you know.

Thanks

Yep! That did the trick. You da man.

Uhh... yeah. I'm the only user... I forgot; Norton's using my computer, XP is using my computer...

Right after I loaded the game, I rebooted and for some reason I was running way too slow. Couldn't get to this thread in a reasonable amount of time. I escaped out of here and tried to load updates for SpySweeper-- that took too long, so I just ran it. It didn't find anything but afterwards, computer ran normally.

Anyway, thanks a lot!!!

Glad it worked for ya.

I use that "trick" whenever I do a major software install.

And thanks for saying thanks...that's the only "pay" we get around here ;)
