Can't get my DOS game to run in Windows 7

May 26, 2011 at 12:56:31
Specs: Windows 7
I have Sim Ant, Sim City, and Sim Farm all on one disc I just found. It wouldn't play on my computer, so I googled it and downloaded thd DOSbox and followed the instructions here , I finally got all the way through it (My C:\ folder is SIM and the sub folder in that is Simfa, and the application file is Setup), but when I do C:\SIMFA>setup it says "This program requires Microsoft Windows."
I've searched and searched but I can't find any online guides that address this. Help!

well, if your DESPERATE to play this game (s), you could parition the HDD for a extra 2 GB FAT (not FAT32 or NTFS, just FAT) and i can send you the DOS and WINDOWS 3.1 disks. Copy to a directory named opset and run DOS setup when you boot the computer. (This gets tricky. I can send you a text file with instructions on how to do this. It might work with DOSbox, but not likley.) setup DOS and then run Win 3.1 setup. It could need win 95, but it's probably Win 3.1.
P.S> i have SimFarm so if you want, i can e-mail you the game uncompressed. otherwise, SimFarm is a win98 game, so it won't work with DOSbox. It won't work with your computer at all if you are running a 64 bit system.

The way you describe your nested directories it would be c:\sim\simfa\setup and enter to start the setup. If you still get the 'this program requires microsoft windows' then you probably don't have the dos version.

Ding dong the witch is dead. . . .
