cant get an images on games

whenever i try to play games either on cd rom or on line i cant get an image. the sound works fine but i cant see a thing! the screen goes black and i can sometimes see an image flashing but it is all distorted. these games have all worked with no probs before so i really dont have a clue what has caused it to stop working. please help!!!

it is because your video card doesnt support direct X video. It supports the audio portion because you have a good enough audio card. The only way to fix this is to buy a new video card--a GeForce, ATI, or Radeon is the best bet.
BTW-if you own a Dell or E-Machines computer, you most likely have an onboard vid card, making it impossible to put a new one on your computer
