Hi guys, I'm hoping some brilliant tech minds can help me out, thanks in advance!
First, I have Vista.
I can't find a way to uninstall a game, I'm hoping you can help me troubleshoot. I have tried uninstalling through add/remove as well as the uninstallation option on the game start menu. Both ways result in identical issues.
I have attached a screenshot of the error so you can get a clearer idea of what the exact problem is:
http://s402.photobucket.com/albums/...
It is a Japanese game. My search on the internet, including this site, has turned up no results as far as troubleshooting this problem.
I think I might have moved the folder it is looking for, and perhaps have inadvertently deleted it. There is nothing in my recycling bin since I have emptied it.
I tried to reinstall the game, but the game acts like it's already installed, so there is no install option, only a game start option. When I try to start the game, nothing comes up, no error messages or anything -- nothing happens. There is nothing in task manager either that indicates any part of the game is running.
My first idea: I tried to "lie" to the uninstall prompt by attempting to create a folder where it says it cannot find it, basically by recreating the folder and dumping the entire game files. But, the file name the uninstallation is trying to access is in moonspeak (as you can see from the screenshot), with a folder that has question marks in its name. When trying to recreate the folder, Windows will not let me name a folder that contains question marks, so I cannot recreate the folder since question marks are invalid names.
My second idea: registry cleaners. I DL'ed and ran CCleaner, Eusing, and Wise. I ran each program twice, and it appears to recognize that the obsolete pathway exists, as it turned up in the results, and so I got rid of all of it. But still, no luck.
Also, I have tried to locate the file it is looking for through searching all of my harddrive, but it no longer exists.
Any ideas?
Thank you for your help!
