Cannot Read Oblivion DVD

Same problem on two (2) identical Dell 4700s when trying to install Oblivion The Elder Scrolls IV. The DVD drive can only see one file on the Oblivion DVD (autorun.inf). So autorun takes off then asks where the other files are. I CAN see the files on a Vista notebook, so copied them to a directory on the 4700s and installed from there. Oblivion runs, but you must have the Oblivion disc in the 4700 DVD drive. Game works a while, but the DVD drive "locks"... will not eject by button or with eject command. A paperclip still works :-)
After Oblivion stops working (a few hours to a few days) the DVD drive remains locked. I have to shut down and reboot to get the drive back... then uninstall/reinstall Oblivion and do it all over again. It's getting REAL old. No problem with any other DVDs.
