Reply: (edit)playing any game with only 128mb ram will be pretty slow. Do you know what your video card is? If you do, install the latest drivers for it online. Download DirectX 9.0 if you haven't already too. Next...what is your sound card? I never played duke nukem on pc before, but i think your video card is too crappy if its slow and freezing. Duke 3d is a old game(i used to have it for playstation) and usually the graphics are crappier than HELL. BUT, the game should be compatible with XP. Heres a last resort. Install Latest Sound Card Drivers, or get a better one. Probably your sound card can't support Duke 3d. Mines is Creative PCI 128(pretty good sound card) with Altec Lansing Speakers. Buy a good brand sound card thats cheap :)

Reply: (edit)I don't think Duke Nukem is compatible with XP. The game won't even start on mine!. It just goes to the DOS box and freezes completely. I have to use the power switch to get it going again! I've got XP, 1GB RAM, P4 2.0GHz. The point is, you're lucky it even starts.

Reply: (edit)Well, if GAMER can actually play the game on Windows XP, that means Duke Nukem is compatible. Remember that Windows XP, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 are alike, so if Duke Nukem is compatible with 2000 or NT, it'll probably support Windows XP as well. Nice RAM you got :)

Reply: (edit)Rick, don't give advice to people if you don't have any clue yourself. Duke Nukem 3d is an old DOS-based game. It runs perfectly on a 486dx2 machine with 16mb ram. The problem is that it doesn't run on windows xp. Rick, you're a wussy. Go home and play all those newskool games you've got. Counter-strike and stuff. And don't try to look like you actually know something, and then mock the users' computers because your daddy bought you better. To the question itself: Try running with VDMSound or DosBox.

Reply: (edit)And Rick, the problem has nothing to do with a sound card. And Creative sb128 is quite crappy sound card. You have a crappy sound card. And sound card drivers have nothing to do with ms-dos compatibility in winxp. You should know that. Oh, i forgot, you play with PlayStation.
