CPU/Ram: Dual 1.67 GHZ AMD Athlon
Product: ASUS
Comment:

I currently have an ASUS A7M266-D mobo with dual 1.67 GHZ processors, 2 gig of ecc reg PC-2100 DDR SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce4 AGP 4x video card with 64 mb ram on the GPU...All running XP Pro. I really want to get a faster video card for my system, but have no idea what to look for. I play America's Army a lot and usually get around 20 FPS with my current setup. Should I look for another video card, or just spend the $$ and purchase a new system? If I need to look for another card, which would be best for my system? Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Well, you have a pretty decent system, but unless you have a PCI-e slot available, I would rather just purchase a new system, or build one. Parts are very cheap now, and you can get better than what you have, for alot cheaper than if you keep upgrading. If you already have it custom built, and have a windows CD that's the way to go.

Why can't I put a Q here?

My system has no PCI-E slots at all. I have these slots on my mobo:
One (1) AGP 4x Pro slot
Two (2) 64-bit/66MHz bus mastering PCI slots
Three (3) 32-bit/33MHz bus mastering PCI slots
Do they even have any AGP video cards that would be better than the GeForce 4 I already have? I really want to get a new card unless it's impossible to get a better card.

I think I have decided to go for the 7800GS from Nvidia. It's within my price range and cheaper than the X850 XTPE. I know the performance is a little better with the X850, but it's a little too high for me. Thanks anyway.

There is no point for getting either the 7800gs or x850xt pe for your system due to CPU bottleneck. The best GPU fits your system would be radeon 9600pro or 9600xt.

The 7600GT performs as well for less. If you want better performance than that, go with the X1950Pro AGP.

But honestly, both are wastes of money. Your motherboard's chipset has an exceptionally weak memory controller. Couple that with not so fast processors, and any video card mentioned here will be bottlenecked. I'd have gone with a $50-60 graphics card or replaced the system.
