Try XP compatibility mode....

um i hate XP just cause i like clean installs and i cant do that with my laptop as its a company computer so i get bloatware and crap, and like my battery is so bad in XP its like 1.5 hrs when in vista i get my 2.5, and i got oblvion working but it was smooth except when i wasnt paying attention to it for awhile, like if i was also on MSN i would chat and then go back and it was frozen... You should be able to play it on lower settings. I'm guessing medium resolution with medium details, if you're lucky. But if "ATI mobility Radeon x1600 128M dedicated 384MB Shared" means that it uses a Hypermemory/TurboCache type of video card, then you'd probably have to stick with lower (800x600) resolution and medium-low detail.
