I built this new computer (12 days old) with these specs:

AMD 64x2 4000+
ASUS M2N-E Mobo w/ ultra nforce 570
Arctic Cooling 64 Freezer Pro HS/F w/as5
4GIG of Crucial DDR2 800 6400 2gig x 2
2 SATAII WD 80gig Hard drives 8Mb cache
2 SATA DVD RAM Drives
Antec Case w/5 fans
Antec NeoPower 550 watt PSU
Belkin 1000va/550watt UPS
22” Acer LCD Monitor
XFX Geforce 8500 GT video card

When I run Call of Duty 1 it crashes with error message “script runtime error”.

A little background…

Before this error, it would display the bots just freezing in place and the play was sluggish , jerky.
And display the message which varied from time to time saying “Error: script runtime error: possible infinite loop…”

but I messed with it awhile updating drivers to where now it just says “script runtime error”
installed:
AMD x2 driver
AMD x2 optimizer
Up to date nvidia drivers
Up to date nforce chipset drivers

DX 9.0c,

I was thinking about trying the ۩۞۩DirectX 10 RC2 Fix 3-Pre for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003۩۞۩ at http://leechermods.blogspot.com/200...
As a last resort.
I"m getting 60fps.

Any ideas as to why this is doing this ?

It’s freaking me out because I saved a long time to get this hardware and I’m hoping it’s all good and I can't pinpoint it.

Thanks.

2 SATA DVD

The XFX support just said this "Script Runtime Error is without a doubt a game error. It may be as simple as doing your Windows updates and then uninstalling COD, reinstalling COD to a different directory, completely patching the game and then trying again."

I stay away from Win Update because every single solitary time that I used it in the past I had to re-format my machine.

Directx has "runtimes" in it so "script runtime error" does strike me as very possibly a software thing.

Does anyone know the fix ?
