When I click on the single player in the Call of Duty Game it runs through the first three screens then it freezes up before getting to the main menu. The game uses the Open GL. My video card is the ATI AIW Radeon 9800 PRO. My MOBO is the Abit IC7 Max3 and I am using the latest ATI Catalyst Ver. 4.5 and the Direct 9b driver. Can anyone help me resolve this problem.

Go here http://www.fileplanet.com/section.aspx?s=96056&v=90002

and choose v1.42

also dont run the game in glide, your video card is plenty good enough to run call of duty in direct 3D mode.

Thanks for the info. I installed the patch, however, the game still freezes. Can you think of anything else I can do.

tenbears this is the ATI Hotfix i was referring to, it directly states: This patch fixes a major bug in Activision's Call of Duty - the system hangs or produces a VPU recover error after launching the game. Users who are experiencing this issue are advised to download and install the appropriate driver HotFix for their Operating System. I belive this should solve your problem. The url is http://www.gamershell.com/news_BCallofDutyBATIRadeonHot.shtml hope this helps.

Baz! Thank you for that download address.
I installed the patch and it worked up to a point. Finnaly it would freeze and I would have to uninstall the patch and reinstall it. I was able to finally play all of the game thanks to you.
Have a great day
