call of duty 4 will not read

Model/Manufacturer: HP pavilion 7960

when i put the call of duty 4 cd in my dvd rom drive it acts like its reading but nothing happens. I have and play cod2 and the requirements are almost the same. Any idea what is wrong or how do i find what i need to update to play.

CoD4 doesn't come on CD, it's a DVD. Did you try running the setup.exe directly from the drive? Also, check to see if autorun is enabled. It worked fine for me.

i have the same problem, i put my cod 4 dvd in my dvd dvive and nothing happens, if i got into my computer it show's the drive is empty, and if i click on my dvd drive to open it it freezes and my dvd drive wont eject the dvd or do any thing, i know my dvd drive is working because my bf2 and bf2142 dvd's work and they start automatically, any one have a solution??

I have the exact same problem, accept I can eject my disk and it fixes it, but when I put it back in, it freezes again.

Sounds like Activision and Infiniti Ward have shipped a batch of bad DVD's. Take them back, and buy a new copy. Or, copy a friends and use your cdkey.

I have the same problem, it sees the call of duty disk in the drive but says theres nothing on it and wont start the installation. any solutions?
