Hi I was wondering if I could borrow some of your time to help me with a rather annoyin problem I have been experiencing. When I load the call of duty 4 singleplayer all is well smooth gameplay etc... but when I load the multiplayer it crashes back to the desktop after loading to a black screen. I have installed the latest patch and NVIDIA drivers. This only has occured when I switched moniters to a new larger moniter. I have tried to run the game in its default safe mode to no avail.

Sounds like your Firewall / AntiVirus Software....go to your settings and ALLOW Full or Custom access with this app. Might not be the problem, but that's what is sounds like.

Found out that the problem was that the microphone was not plugged in. Odd solution but it now works only when it is plugged in.
