From the following website :-
http://compreviews.about.com/od/bud...
your Dimension 3000 comes with an integrated graphics card. You have an "Intel Extreme 2 Integrated Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory"In other words it's only good for Solitare and Minesweeper.
In order for you to be able to play the games you would need a new graphics card. Ideally, you would want one from the games recommended specs you have posted.
Unfortunately, as the website states, you have no AGP or PCI-e slot to slot a new graphics card in. Your stuck with your integrated graphics.Anyway, with only 512Mb RAM and a Celeron 2.8Ghz this isn't ever going to be a gaming computer.
In short - buy a new computer, return the games or get an Xbox360. Sorry
(PS - my rig as listed below play C&C3 on high graphic settings but it would probably struggle with Gears of War on high.)
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800Mhz
Sapphire x1950Pro
160Gb Seagate Baracuda
500W FSP Bluestorm PSU

I concur sir...dont see a listing of a Graphics Card Alex. I had the same problem with my Dimension 2400...btx mobo with no PCI-E. There are some video cards out there that you can use. Look for Standard PCI. I was playing games like BF2 & 2142, but Doom III & Fear had tons of lag @ lowest settings. U wont be able to play today's newest games w/ a Standard card very well or at all. good luck.
check this out. not the best site to buy, but a guide.

This is what the Device Manager has listed under display adapters: Intel 82865g Graphics Controller. If that at all helps...

Intel 82865g Graphics Controller...Intel chip will not work with most games. gonna have to get a video card.

Yep, that's the onboard graphics controller on the Dell Dimension 3000. It means that you don't have a graphics card, and there are other computers with onboard graphics that perform much better.
Simply, that computer wasn't made for gaming, nor can it be upgraded enough to play those games you've listed.
You could add a plain PCI graphic card, but you still wouldn't be able to play any high end games. And I'm not sure a PCI card would be much better than your onboard chip.

I think that's a bit of an exageration. It should play older commercial games OK, like the original Command and Conquer, Doom, and thousands of others.

The Dimension 2400 I just gave to my parents has a PCI card in it, and I was able to play games like games like BF2, 2142, Doom III & Fear but with lowest graphical settings. I believe it was the GeForce 6200 or 6600GT. You can still find them online, but the best suggestion is for a new board to enable PCI-E.
