Subject: Buying a pc in the UK, help plz! 3OS: winxpCPU/Ram: 3ghz/2gig or better!Model/Manufacturer: Unsure yet! |
Comment: Hi guys! <3 In my previous post i've been talking to jam about my upgrading problems! I was just wondering if all doesnt pan out, where would be the best place to buy a pre-built system for a UK buyer for around £500-600 pounds (GBP)? I really dont want to buy from somewhere like pc world and big stores like that as they usually seem to give you bad deals imho, but i dont know of other good places to buy. If you were looking for a pre-built system in the UK for a decent gaming pc where would you buy?! The specs i'm thinking of are something like: 3ghz processor 250gig HD 256mb pci-e 8600 GT(s) nvidia card (or better) 2gig RAM WinXP Home or Pro dvd/cdrw drive decent cooling system etc etc etc... Is that possible for around 500-600 pounds? and if so where would you recommend? Thanks for reading and any opinions/links welcome! Hannah xo

Reply: (edit)well thats around 1000USD, and i just build my girlfriend a PC similar but a bit better to what you described for 600USD. So if things were close to the same price there as they are here, you should be able to build yourself something real nice. I really don't know enough, but I'm sure you can get a PC that will play any current MMORPG on high settings with 500 or so pounds.

Reply: (edit)Hiyaz =) Sorry took me awhile to post back i've been really busy and had to use the money, now i have it back and want to get my upgrades as soon as possible before i have to spend it on something else! Going to buy: RAM - 4 gigs from Crucial.com (they found compatible ram 4 gigs for only £66!) PSU - http://tinyurl.com/2j5bs6 OCZ StealthXStream 600W Gamers PSU (Would this be fine to put into my system? also not sure if all PSU's are the same size / will fit in my case.. is this standard etc?!) Graphics Card - http://tinyurl.com/2j76y4 Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB PCI-E (Would this do the job?! good for the price?) The RAM seems to be fine thanks to Crucials compatibility tester program which redirected me =) The PSU and Grphx Card i'm unsure of.. mainly the PSU, never installed one before =( Thank you all for your help so far and putting up with my newbie questions =) Hannah xoxoxo
