The video card is a bit dated, I suggest getting at least a radeon 9550 thats the budget card which supports direct X 9. The 9250 is direct X 8 crap and will be a MAJOR bottle neck on your rig, other then that it looks rather nice.

Processor P4@ 2.6 Ghz, FSB@535Mhz
RAM 512MB's PC2700/32001 256 stick of each. Hard Disk Drives 1 40 GB HD 1 10 GB HD CD/DVD Drives CDRW52X

How could we know if you're getting ripped off when we don't know how much you're buying it for?

I would most definitely reconsider the gfx card. While you could probably play those games, there are already games out there that won't run on that card. I would look at a Radeon 9800 Pro or an NVidia 6600 gfx card.

No CD burner? Why not?!

I'd get a better power supply, too.

I just called the shop and they said it would cost me $30 more than the original price to get my video card to 9520...

Should I do it?

9520? you mean 9550?

Dude, trust me, get at the VERY least a 9600 pro, or preferably a 9800 pro.

I have a Radeon 9550 & recommend it for those on a tight budget...it's basically an underclocked 9600. Most of the Radeon 9250's use a 64-bit memory interface, which means they're not good gaming cards...& as was mentioned, they only support DX8.

Video card prices have been dropping somewhat. I agree with heropsycho...probably the best AGP card for under $100 right now would be either the 9600Pro or 9600XT. The 9800Pro has been mentioned lately because newegg has them in their refurbed section for $99...that's a hell of a deal on what not too long ago was THE gaming card to have! You'll be disappointed with the performance of the Radeon 9250

"$767.05"

thats a budget? lol, it even sounds to me like your buying from one of those off beat pc companies that mixes parts that have been left over or "refurbrished" and calls it a great deal! (then bait n switch you after with little $30 addons here and there). For $770 you should well be able to build your own pc with a pci-e slot instead of agp, and atleast a dvd burner. I'm not sure how cheap alienware pc's can go for but if your not into putting the pieces together yourself then maybe that'd be a better place to start rather than a "dell", "hp" or whatever else your getting. I mean heck for $770 you should atleast be getting a DX9 card. Haha and why not go Nvidia for a gfx card? lol nvidia never gets no love these days....

you can make an alien ware for half the price if you pick out the parts yourself. if ur gunna spend 770 on a craper like that, why don't you get a dell or something. but come on, a 9250? get a low end 6200 at least.

they are right about a better graphics card and also a more powerfull power supply. however, the graphics card is if you're willing to spend a little more money. hell, i have a radeon 9200 128mb AGP card, and all the games i've tryed, including doom 3 and other graphics intensive games, it works just fine. people are spoiled with their systems, they think they've got to have THE BEST.

Granted, people do overspend on gfx cards, but I have an exceptionally hard time believing you can play Doom 3 "just fine" on a Radeon 9200 when a 9600XT is sucking wind.

And just how well does a 9200 do in Doom 3?

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2146&p=5

That's why a 9600XT should be bought over a 9200 or a 9250!

i used ATITool to overclock my 9200, that could be why it does okay. standard core speed is 250mhz, standard mem speed is 200mhz. i overclocked the core to 325mhz and the memory to 260mhz, so it runs a bit better then a 'stock' radeon 9200
