Jam is correct. Building a PC takes a working knowledge of PC hardware and software and takes a significant degree of troubleshooting ability and general technical knowledge. The fact that you listed what you want to do with the system and not the "specs" you would want shows that you should buy a custom build if anything.

"It's cheaper"
Not really..it depends. It is usually not cheaper to build a PC unless you can get a huge discount on each component or buy a nicely equipped barebones PC. Custom builds are usually only cheaper than brand computers in that you don't have to buy what you don't need.

motoXdude,

I've been following your threads & answering your questions for several days now, & I don't think you're ready to take on a new build yet. Do I need to give examples? If anyone disagrees, scroll down & find his last 4-5 questions. I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to point out that you've got some learning to do 1st. If you jump into it before you're ready, you may end up frying something...or at the very least, you'll be posting even MORE questions for us...LOL

It's not that hard, but it does depend on what parts you get. I learned from Building a PC for Dummies. I'm not calling you a dummy, it's just a great book, and it helped me when I was a beginner builder. Try it; and building it yourself IS less expensive, if you know what you're doing.
