I'd go with a different brand PSU. Cooler Master isn't terrible, but I'd still go with a Thermaltake or Enermax among others over it.

What hard drive are you going with?

As for your OS, you're sorta stuck in a weird position. On the one hand, XP generally runs games faster than Vista does, although that difference is increasingly diminishing. In fact, Armed Assault runs for me a little better in Vista than XP. If you're playing particularly older games, they may not run, although I haven't had any issues so far.

However, Vista is slated to be the only OS to support DX10, and it's obviously going to be supported longer than XP will be. You probably will want Vista at some point in the future if you don't get it now.

If you could, ideally you'd like to dual boot. If you can do that, I would recommend two hard drives with Vista on one and XP on the other. You could then manipulate which OS you boot to through your BIOS, so there's no need to setup a boot menu and deal with that stuff.

Hi,
Ever consider getting the E6600 for $225.90. Almost 90 dollars cheaper. You could just do the overclocking to 2.66GHZ without any problem. Even could overlocking the E6600 to 3.0GHZ at the very lease. Is there a reason why you pick E6700 in the first place?

According to Newegg, PNY 8800GTS only have 1 years warranty on it. Get the eVga 8800GTS 640MB for $350. They have a lifetime warranty on them. They also have other good things worth considering, changing cooler won't void warranty, great RMA support, they have a very good forum of their own. And the 90 days step-up program for video card etc.

Might want to consider the OCZ GameXStream 700W powersupply for $115. They have 3 years parts warranty. The OCZ 600W is only 5 dollars cheaper. That's why I recommand the OCZ 700W.

AMD 64 3500+ Newcastle
ASRock 939 Dual Motherboard
eVga 7900GT CO
Kingston PC3200 4x512MB in Duel Channel
Audigy 2 Sound card
WindowXP Home Edition
Logitech

I'd agree on the processor. The E6600 still has 4M of cache. No way the E6700 is worth about $100 more. Make sure you get a fast hard drive or two with that money. Having say 2x 400 gig drives with OS on one and games on the other would do more good than a slightly higher clocked CPU.

Stick with the Asus mobo.

Don't get a Maxtor drive. Go with Seagate, or Hitachi.

Like this one:

Again, don't like the PSU for the money. OCZ that was recommended above is good, as is Thermaltake, Enermax among others.

And again, the E6700 is a waste of money. If the money is burning a hole in your pocket, get two hard drives and load OS on one, games on the other, or get an extra 2GB of RAM. Either is a better way to spend your money if you're gonna spend it. Honestly, you don't need to spend that $100 on any of it.

$409 for a 640M 8800GTS is far too much. I know it's an OC'ed version, but it's not worth $90 more than this...

You had it right the first time with an Asus mobo.
