Specs: Windows Vista 64 bit, amd athlon 5400/ 4gb ram
Hi it's my first time on this site and also soon to be building a budget gaming pc. I was wondering if you guys could check my specs.

Asus M3A78-CM
Patriot Extreme Performance 4gb
Western Digital HDD 320gb
Zotac Geforce 9600gt
Coolermaster Xtreme 550w
Antec three hundred gaming case
LG 22x/ dvd-rw
Windows vista 64 bit

Are you getting the 5400+ Black Edition? If not, you should. And don't forget a decent HSF.

Even though you're not gonna use the onboard graphics, I suggest you look for a board based on the AMD 780G chipset rather than the 780V.

how's the HSF for the 5400. do i need a third party heatsink or is the stock fan alright? not planning to do alot of overclocking in fact, i've never done it before. Maybe my first build would be a good start to oc my cpu.

If you get the X2 5400+ Black Edition, there is no HSF in the will HAVE to buy one. If you get the X2 5400+ standard retail edition, there IS a HSF included. The stock unit works fine.
