Hi,
I'm having a problem since I upgraded my system -- I can't play one of my favourite games, Black & White. Details are:
ISSUE: Black & White won’t start up. It will go to a white screen with the logo upon startup and freeze.
SYSTEM:
CPU & Speed: Pentium III –500 (Pentium II – 333 required)
Drive Space: 1291 MG free space (600MG required)
Memory: 255 MG (64 MG required)
Direect X Version: 8 (V7a required)
Windows 98A
Only issue that comes up with Direct X is: The file nvdisp.drv is uncertified, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a certified driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device.
Fixes already tried:- removed and re-installed sound and video drivers
- set display to lower resolution- Turned hardware acceleration off - note: B&W doesn’t even get past the logo screen when this is changed. It shows the initial quarter screen and then went back to Windows.
If anyone can offer any insight as to how to fix this, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi maridee.
nvdisp.drv - Do you have an Nvidia video card?
Did you upgrade the Operating System or the video card?
Did you download a new video card driver or are you using the original driver from before the upgrade?
If you upgraded the Direct X version from a previous version you should also upgrade your video driver.
If you have a TNT or GeForce card You can get an updated video driver from -
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_45.23
If your Nvidia card is a different version that website also has driver for the older cards.
Take care,Linda

Hi Linda,
Thanks for the tips. I'll visit the support site today.
I did download the latest version of my video card's (Nvidia Geforce 3) but will doublecheck the site to make suree there isn't a more recent one.
When I upgraded the system, I wiped c: and reinstalled Windows and everything else. Does that open up any other possibilities?
Thanks again!

I know it's only a few weeks on, but did you manage to solve your problem?
I'm having exactly the same issues with my new Geforcefx card (with latest drivers).
