Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 1.596 GHz / 1014 MB
I get an error when I try to run Battlefield 1942:

Debug assertion failed!

Module: RendPCDX8
File: C:\Dice\projects\Battlefield\ENGINE\RendPCDX8\PCDX8RendererInit.ccp
Line: 273

Text: Failed to create 3d device.

Now since I have a 128 MB video card that supports everything t&l and all that stuff I don't know what the problem is.
My PC is way above the recommended requirements of the game.
I searched the whole net, and found many posts about this error, all of them were answered by: reinstall the game, update your drivers, bla bla bla.
Seriously, do you know how this problem is fixed?

Update your graphics driver and if that doesn't work, reinstall the game. I know it sounds like everything else you've read, but as rendering is a graphics issue it is likely the card. Also, make sure you are disconnected from the internet and have your anti-virus program off before you install the game. A lot of games and software don't install properly if there is an anti-virus software program running in the background. Case and point, MS Office would not install while my anti-virus program was running. Let me know how you go.

I have reinstalled the game countless times and updated my graphics card before I posted the question. I searched in a list of graphics card that the game supports which was provided by the game manufacturers, and my graphics card was in the list. I require a reasonable explanation. please.

Your error message is the same as others have posted who do not have T&L capable video cards. You ask for help and then smart off about a reasonable answer. If you google this you'll find numerous errors with this exact wording all relating to the video card not being T&L compliant.
What graphics card do you have?
