Hey,
I play Counter-Strike and only get between 20 and 60 fps with my Geforce 2 card.Anyone know if I'd get 99fps if I bought something like the ATI Radeon 9200 or better?
Would I get any kind of improvement?
I'm on a 800mhz cpu and my friends seem to think I won't see improvement.
Thanks
Nate

Do you have a motherboard that supports AGP? I am doubtful on a 800mhz system, but I'm usually surprised.
If you do, you will almost DEFINITELY see an improvement.
I have a 900mhz with 512RAM as of right now, and am upgrading. I was thinking about getting a high-end video card, and I didn't have AGP support, so I set out on a quest for the cool computer I always wanted =)
I am buying all I need (except for the 9700 pro) for under 300 bucks!
The 9700 pro I found was 250, so 550 in total, with a 2.0ghz amd athlon xp.
To check if you have AGP, download a program like SANDRA, on downloads.com and other places. Check the PCI, AGP, other devices etc. tab and if there aren't any AGP devices, you don't have one.
But, back to the question.
Answer: YES, IT WILL DEFINITELY IMPROVE YOUR FPS, BUT YOUR MONITOR WILL LIMIT YOUR FPS. MAKE SURE YOUR Hz ON YOUR MONITOR IS SET TO AROUND 70 SOME, OR 80.
There ya go.

Well I don't have AGP but I can find PCI video cards... a good $100 PCI video card wouldn't improve my fps? =/
