Hey everybody, basically I am going to build myself a
decent gaming PC from Tiger Direct and I was looking for
some help in making a PC for strictly gaming. There will
be nothing on this computer at all probably barley even a
browser.

Here is the Barebone kit I am starting with, it comes with a
775 slot Intel board, ( I know more about the Intel
company than AMD and I trust them more ) http://
www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-
details.asp?EdpNo=1559991&sku=B450-3129

The graphics card I plan on getting is the Diablotek
Radeon X700 (link >) http://www.tigerdirect.com/
applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?
EdpNo=1644509&sku=TC3H-1034 unless this is the
worst choice, I'd like to get this one.

I plan on maxing out the PC with 2GB of Patriot DDR Ram
running at 400MHz

A Seagate 120Gb hard drive

And probably the most difficult decision so far, picking
the processor Right now I have the Intel Celeron D
Processor 355, which has a 3.33GHz processing speed,
and a 533MHz bus speed.

I was just wondering how you guys would think this would
play out, seeing as how you all know more than I do.. If
you guys have any suggestion I would gladly listen. I am
not looking to spend a lot of money but I do want a
decent gaming PC and I know that eventually I am going
to have to spend money.

Thanks in Advance!

unfortunately the truth is gaming pcs will require some of the more expensive compnenets,

people can argue but thats the truth as im sure some will agree
oh and anothe things...its not about trusting a cpu company, both companies are obvious heavyweights in the processor industry and produce quality components...

graphics card will need to go if you plan on playing some of the later games, will leave that for the graphix card gurus to guide you on that...lol

thats my 2 cents

hope it helped

The above is a sample build that I recommended to someone very recently. I am not saying you need an identical computer but something along the lines of that is way better that your Intel selection.

I can understand your wanting an Intel based machine for gaming since you feel comfortable having used them in the past, in fact both AMD & Intel can meet your needs in that regard, however you'll get more bang for your buck if you go with AMD. Ofcourse there is also all the noise about 'Core 2 Duo aka Conroe' outperforming the creme CPUs within AMD's lineup but they aren't available just yet.

don't let anyone brainwash you on your cpu selection,it's called preference, for a reason,go with good quality parts from trusted companies, and get a decent psu,try to avoid psu's that are bundled with cases...they're the worst kind.go with whatever company, you feel comfortable with.good luck with your build

In responce to Firewire, I am not all that knowledgeable in
PCs seeing as how I run Mac. I do however love my Mac but I
am looking to build my own PC mainly for gaming, because
my powerbook laptop is great for Photoshop or
Dreamweaver It doesn't run Halo, or even WoW to well.

So I was looking for people to clue me in on whether or not I
had the best Processor/Graphics card combination to run
games like WoW, F.E.A.R., Half-life 2, and possibly Battlefield
2, smoothly, and let's face it make it look pretty.

Hey guys I have decided to upgrade my Video Card to
something with a little more bang.

I am going to continue to go with the Celeron D 355, and
the same 775 slot motherboard. But I have narrowed it
down to these three video cards, and I was wondering
which of the three I should go with...( I am providing links
to them via Tiger Direct )

(Number 1 is the Xmdia GeForce 6600)
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/
item-details.asp?EdpNo=1697137&sku=A406-7010

(Number 2 is the EVGA GeForce 6600 GT)
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/
item-details.asp?EdpNo=1696714&sku=E145-5144

(Number 3 is the Diablotek NVIDIA GeForce 6600)
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/
item-details.asp?EdpNo=1549699&sku=TC3H-1028

correct me if I am wrong, please!, but they all should work
with my motherboard. Honestly I didn't realize they were
all 6600s until I typed this out.

Please and thank you!
