AMD ATHLON XP 2800+
1GB RAM

Am building a new system which will be,

AMD Athlon 64bit 3000+

First off, dump the 7800GTX in favor of a 7900GT, which is faster, and shouldn't cost as much.

Next, consider a better CPU, such as the Opteron 144, which has 1M of L2 cache, and doesn't cost much more than an Athlon 64 3000.

Be sure to get a quality NForce4 Ultra chipset based motherboard, such as DFI.

Finally, you may consider 2GB of RAM instead of one. Besides for performance reasons, DDR generation one memory is expected to climb in price from here on out, so it actually may be cheaper to get it now instead of later.

Yeah, Oblivion is an Ati game, I didn't know this when I bought my 7900GT, which really doesn't cut it... Get the best Ati you can afford

After a long research over the net looking at tomshardware.co.uk and http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2746&p=1

I found that oblivion runs best on Ati x1900xtx crossfire. 7900gtx will perform good but not that good as x1900xtx.

Overall if you rich and can spend up too $450 or £350 on crossfire then get it. most games today run better on a 7900GTX it all depends on the game engine. I brought a 7800gtx but now am at too minds. i might sell it to get crossfire but i heard some rumours about x1900xtx overheating.
