I'm getting a new PC3200 stick to replace the one I have, which is damaged and is causing problems. I've looked at reviews, but I'd also like to know that manufactures you guys prefer.
As far as my full system specs:

Athlon XP 3000+
AGP8x GeForce FX 5700LE 256MB

EIDE133 40GB Seagate Barracuda
Benq DVDRW+/-CDRW combo driveThanks

What brand is it? Can you explain how you know it's bad? Did you run memtest86 & find errors? Most RAM is covered by a lifetime warranty & the manufacturer will replace it free of charge...all you pay for is return shipping of the bad RAM.
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP2

Thanks for responding Jam. I forgot the brand, so I'll look again. I know it's bad by the memory tests I've ran on it. Each time, without fail, it did the freezing and turning off monitor thing when it was testing the RAM. I'll check on that warranty deal and see if I can get a replacement, but regardless, what brand do you trust the most?

Are you using memtest86 to test the RAM? It's run directly off a boot floppy, not thru Windows.
I usually buy RAM locally (CompUSA, Circuit City, OfficeMax, etc) when it's on sale...generally it's Kingston RAM. 512MB PC3200 is on sale right now for $32 (after rebates) at Circuit City.
But you can't beat the deal newegg's been running on Corsair. 2 x 512MB CAS 2.5 for about $82 shipped w/no rebate hassle. Over 800 positive reviews:

Or a single stick for about $42 shipped:

ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+

Yes, I used Memtest86 thru a floppy disk, so it was run in dos. A hint that the RAM was the problem was that in dos mode, the error would no occur, being that very little space of the RAM was being used. Thus, the damaged area wasn't touched; this was the circumstance when I surface scanned the hard drive in DOS overnight, without any problems. But the key is that even though it was in dos mode, it froze again when the memtest86 ran.
Thank you Jam for telling me about your RAM choices. I'll check it out!
Thanks
