My friend has a Dell dimension 5150 and does not have a graphics card.It has a pci express slot. what is the best card under £50 that would play battlefield 2 in decent graphics without lag he has 1gb ram

Since your friend has a P4 2.66ghz with Dell's el-cheapo power supply, getting anything more than a 6600gt/x1600pro will be bottleneck by his CPU/PSU... This option below isn't a bad choice after all...

It is less that £50 but I am worried about the cooling system on it because i got an x850pro and the fan on it died and JAM the link led to an error

geforce 6600gt the cheapest and the best. by the way get the DDR3 version no less. then overclock the gpu and memory. i did it with my existing old but quite fast 6600gt. can still play prey, splinter cell and battlefield2.

I agree with jam's original post. Cards like the X800 GTO blow the pants off the 6600GT and the like due to it 256 bit memory bus, among other things.
