AGP? PCI-e?

In AGP, 9600 Pro is a good choice at around $80. Same with the 9800 Pro $125...

If you want to run games at 1024x768 such as HL2 and Doom 3, 9800 Pro would be the better choice. Otherwise, 9600 Pro would be a better bet.

I assume you mean an AGP card? Whatever you get, make sure it's a 128-bit card & has a numerical model number of 9500 or higher.

If you're on a budget, go for a Radeon 9550 128MB/128-bit (about $65). It's basically an underclocked Radeon 9600, so if you're into overclocking, you should be able to bump it up to 9600 speeds using ATiTool.

For $10 bucks more, you should be able to find a true Radeon 9600 (about $75) or even a 9600Pro (about $80). For about $90 (after rebate), you could get a Radeon 9800SE. OR for about $100, you could get a 9600XT.

All the above are available at newegg.com. If you're willing to take a chance, you should be able to find a card for about $50 in their refurbished section.

Well, with a AMD3200 and 1gig Ram, I'd say a 9800pro or 6600gt.

Without the OP's input on his budget for a new card, anything we write is just a guess. I assume he has an AGP slot though, not PCI-e, so the X600 wouldn't be an option. Newegg doesn't even sell em...only X600Pro or X600XT.

FYI, the "X" in the new Radeon model numbers (i.e. X600) is the Roman numeral for 10.

Apparently he's reading them, but he doesn't have the decency to comment or to clarify what he's looking for, or to say thanks for the suggestions...

I got an ati 9550 agp 8x 128MB/128-bit at newegg for 72 dollars and you can do something called a "soft mod" to a 9600 and if you get an exhaust fan you can overclock even higher - im running the BF2 demo at 1024x768 all settings on high and averaging 73 FPS - doom 3 / cs source / hl2 avg around 65 fps with a lot on screen i go down to 55 but the 9550 is a great card.
