Ok, my computer is 2 or 3 years old, but it has an Nvidia 7800 GS (overclocked), AMD Athlon 3000+ 2.2 ghz, 120 gb hard drive (with roughly 30 gb left), and 1.75 gb of RAM. Everything used to run great on it, but recently Battlefield 2 and 2142 have started to crap out.
In Battlefield 2, I used to be able to run the settings on medium with x4 anti-aliasing, but now I'm forced to put the texture and anti-aliasing to as low as possible. The reason I have to do this is because if I am in game (it doesn't matter what server) I will get random lag spikes of up to 600+ even when my ping is in the 40's. The weird thing is it only happens if I'm NOT in a vehicle (it's fine if I'm in one).
Battlefield 2142 I was always able to run at high settings with x4 anti-aliasing, but now I have to run it at medium with x4 anti-aliasing. Battlefield 2142 doesn't have lag spikes like BF2 (oddly enough), but after about 45 minutes of playing (on any server) ALL anti-aliasing turns itself off. After this happens, if there is any kind of explosion or something like that happening on screen my computer turns off and reboots itself.
Sorry for the really long post but it's a big problem.P.S. I can run things Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War perfectly fine, which require more power. All of my other games work fine. None of it makes sense.

possibly update your drivers.
