Hi all, just built my new machine but i have with it a new problem....

While playing battlefield 2 it randomly closes to desktop. No error, no warning... nothing. Just straight to desktop.

my new system...

Athlon64 4000+ 2.4
2Gb Corsair XMS TwinX cas2
XFX Geforce 7900GT Extreme edition
Creative soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty
Decent antec 550w PSU
250Gb Hitachi SataII HDD

This only happens in battlefield 2. I also play condemned, serious sam 2, fear, quake4 etc.

I have all the latest drivers, latest bios, i'm not overclocking anything and all my temperatures are below average.

any ideas? this is getting annoying.

thanks

I have that same problem occasionally and have similar system specs to you. The problem has gotten much better and it almost never happens now. The only thing I can suggest it to identify any processes you have running int he background and disable any that are not needed.

You might also want to post your problem ont he forums over at BF2s.com. There are many people that have overcome such problems with BF2 that can help.

Have you ever tested your RAM with memtest86?

That message-less crash is common in BF2, but like Michael J said it's gotten much better. Are you running the latest patched version? Also, closing background tasks is essential.

I've tested my memory, took a lifetime but tested ok, no faults and I always close programs before i run my games.... it happens every time i play and its really annoying, especially when you're playing well.

Suppose its just one of those things.

It is a known bug in BF2. You are not the only that experiances it. EA claimed to have fixed but now it affects other people. There is not much ou can do about it except wait for next patch.

<It is a known bug in BF2>
I have the same processor and same pb sometimes.
Check your system (look for unexpected process) and use a defrag application like Diskeeper. It works for me, I have less pb but still some....
