Comment: Hello, I am interested in Battlefield 2 for the PC, I have two opitions Best Buy is selling a Radeon X700 Pro for only $99.99 this friday after Thanksgiving, or I can go on the internet and purchase a Nvidia GeForce 6800 (Standard). That would cost me about $200.00 pretty much the standard price of the Radeon X700 Pro. The 6800 usually retails for I am thinking more but that is on sale as well apparently. I only am interested in playing Battlefield 2 on 1280 x 1024 becasue that is my computers standard dispaly resolution. I would like to try to keep it on high settings if possible, but I rather keep the money cost down because of money troubles lately. I have the money to buy both but I would like some recomendations on which would be the best purchase that most of you would make. I figure I could throw in the X700 and throw in an extra gb of RAM to compensate, and still be cheaper. But anyway I have seen comparisions but benchmarking tests do not say much for actual game play from gamers and feedback. Any feed back would be greatly appreicated. My Current System: Intel Pentium Duel Core 2.8 GHz (Intel Pentium 4 (820) Windows XP 2005 Media Center Edition (Sp 2) 1024 MB of DDR2 PC 4200 RAM Also in the future I would like to be able to play FEAR along with Star Wars: Empire at War, along with the standard Half-Life 2, and Source. How would playing be on my system for Battlefield 2 seeing this is why I purchased this system in the first place was to be able to play Battlefield 2 on it.

Reply: (edit)How about telling us what video card you currently have. Does your board support PCI-e video or AGP? R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero "Viva La Raza"

Reply: (edit)"I only am interested in playing Battlefield 2 on 1280 x 1024 becasue that is my computers standard dispaly resolution" Just because your monitor may support it doesn't mean you should max it out. What type monitor do you have & what screen size? Generally, CRT monitors are better for gaming, unless you have an LCD with a response time of 12ms or less. Here's some benchtest comparisons that may help: http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050524/vga_charts-02.html#3d_mark_2005 R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero "Viva La Raza"

Reply: (edit)I currently use Intel Acc. Grpahics Processor w/128 Shared, Horrid and unable to even start Battlefield 2, along with most common named recent games. I use a 17 INCH Flat Panel I keep in on 1280 x 1024 with 60 Hertz Fresh Rate. I have both AGP, and PCI-E, I didn't include that because I had figured using one of the newest systems that you would presume it is a PCI-E 16x.

Reply: (edit)"I use a 17 INCH Flat Panel I keep in on 1280 x 1024 with 60 Hertz Fresh Rate" The generally recommended setting for a 17" is 1024 x 768...60Hz refresh? "I had figured using one of the newest systems that you would presume it is a PCI-E 16x" Maybe so, but it appears you have a Gateway, so there's no telling what might be inside R.I.P. Reply: (edit)I wouldn't consider the 6800 for the money since you can get a 6800GS for $200 shipped, which beats the snot out of the plain 6800. If you have PCI-e, and you're wanting to play FEAR at that resolution, I would highly suggest the 6800GS. Please help survivors of Hurricane Katrina!www.redcross.org

Reply: (edit)by the way, you only want the bf2 in 1280x1024 resolution? does your PC fast enough? and if you want that high resolution, i dont think x700 is powerful enough for that. unless you turn down all the detail to low. i dont think you would do that, otherwise you wouldnt set that high resolution. Normally, ppl would set high detail with lower resolution instead of low detail with high resolution. anyway, if you want to play all the latest games with that high resolution, x700 is not a good choice, maybe you need 6800GT.
