OK - Im new on here and not totally up on all the lingo. Basically what Im after knowing is what I need to do in order for Battlefield 2 to work well on my computer...

I currently play Joint Operations and having played that on an older computer, I dont want to play Battlefield 2 with it jumping all the time.

My comnputer is a AMD Athlon(64) 3500+
Running at 2.25 GHz
1 GB ram
Nvidia Geforce Ti 4200 with AGP8X (128mb)
230GB Hard Drive

I think Im right in thinking that my graphics card is really lame? Does anyone have any suggestions for a low budget graphics card that I can get to help me play Battlefiel 2? And can anyone tell me if I need a PCI card or AGP? ...or how can i find out (told you I was stupid!)....

Also... Is my computer good enough in every other department to run it?... Like in a fast pace, decent graphics setting kind of way? I thought it was quite a reasonable spec apart from the graphics card....?

Any other hints on how to get the best of my computer would be greatly appreciated...

How about listing the make/model of your motherboard?

Your weak link is the video card. The Ti4200 was a decent card several years ago, but that was several years ago. It's time to invest in a new card.

As hinted by jam, your Ti4200 unquestionably needs to be retired.

A 7800GT/GS (PCI-E/AGP) would have been real good for that system but since you are on a competitive budget, look at the 6800 series specifically the GT/GS (PCI-E/AGP) and get more memory (RAM).

You have an AGP slot... you wrote it your self
"Nvidia Geforce Ti 4200 with AGP8X (128mb)"

Personally I would go for something like the 6600GT, it's not over the top expensive and gives you decent performance. Also most 6600GT's in AGP are slightly down clocked so its easy to squeese a bit more performance out of it.

I just noticed the name...teddylong. What's up, playa? LOL!

Depending on your budget, $100 will get you a 6600GT or X1600Pro at newegg.com

I have bf2 and it works fine with the 6600gt,but Im about to do a late upgrade to the 7900gt which would be overkill. So get the 7600 for budget, 6600 for even lower budget. And anything above the 7600 would last you over a year.
